He quickly advanced to Archlord and became Master of the Dawnwing Sect. He is brilliant with scripts. Vicious [[Stormcallers]] slaughtered his disciples and seriously injured him, reducing his power. His challenge in the series is to regain his mangled spirit and restore his motivation. A little revenge, too!

The first book to showcase Ziel is [[Ghostwater]], book 5. He plays a strong role in the [[18th Uncrowned King Tournament]] as a [[Northstrider]] representative. Later, eventually he joins Eithan’s group. Ziel is also featured in The Savior of Garden’s Gate, a short story by Will Wight in the anthology Heroes Wanted.

Before he was viciously attacked and injured, Ziel was an Archlord on the [[Path of the Dawn Oath]], teaching his disciples in the Dawnwing Sect on the Iceflower Continent, his birthplace. The attack by [[Stormcallers]] occurred before book 1, offscreen. Within the series, he is '''Ziel of the Wasteland,''' under [[The Beast King]]’s protection in the Wastelands, on the border of the [[Blackflame Empire]] — Ziel sought Herald (Beast King) for healing. Beginning with book 5, [[Ghostwater]], he develops a reluctant friendship with [[Wei Shi Lindon Arelius]] and company. He is also affiliated with [[Northstrider]], who heard of him through the Beast King and invited him to compete in the Uncrowned Competition. (Underlord, epilogue, & Uncrowned, ch 14). Eventually he signs a contract with [[Eithan Arelius]] for one year, in exchange for Eithan’s healing services, which includes going to [[Sacred Valley]] in Akura Territory to evacuate people before the [[Dreadgod]] arrives.

==Appearance==
Ziel is 35 years old (in book 7, [[Uncrowned]]), but he looks only 18, having had his Archlord body re-forged in soulfire thrice. He always feels soul-deep weariness, due to his mutilated spirit. His eyes are tired and heavy, his voice flat. He wears a dusty grey cloak with a faded indistinguishable emblem — maybe a lotus flower or a web. Ziel has shoulder-length, slightly curly, shaggy black hair.
 For his Goldsign, Ziel has two upward-curving emerald green horns. They’re luminous green at the base and run up the gradient to the points, which are dark green. “His Goldsign was so condensed as to look completely real.”
 
Ziel carries a powerful two-handed warhammer. It’s often kept in his void space. Because of his weakened state he has to drag it around: its haft is as long as he is tall, its head the width of his body.

Ziel invites Lindon to examine his ravaged spirit, while in Ghostwater pocket world: <blockquote >Lindon opened his Copper sight. A venomous, toxic green ravaged his body, dimming the aura of his blood and life. He extended his perception, scanning the man’s spirit; he didn’t resist at all. ==Hated Stormcallers==
A [[Dreadgod]], the [[Weeping Dragon]], passed over Ziel’s location on Iceflower. Soon afterwards, Ziel and his Dawnwing Sect disciples were attacked by [[ Dreadgod cult]] followers, the Stormcallers. They attack with lightning and storm madra. Ziel fought and lost to the Stormcaller Sage. His soul was deliberately torn apart with lightning and stitched together wrong, leaving him to helplessly watch all his students die. He was near death and weakened to the level of a Truegold or an Underlord. (While there is usually a clear distinction between the two, Ziel has qualified for both the [[Ghostwater (Pocket World)]] visit and the [[Uncrowned King Tournament]] — twice — so his power level is unclear). He has been seeking healing ever since the Sage mangled his spirit. He’d also like revenge for his dead disciples and himself.

Later, at the time of the [[Uncrowned King Tournament]], Monarch Emriss Silentborn gave Ziel a healing elixir, which also helped. Finally, in exchange for one year of service, [[Eithan Arelius]] offered Ziel a way to restore his splintered spirit. Ziel accepted the bargain and Eithan treated him several times with rare elixirs and a restoration technique using lightning madra — the Pure Storm Baptism, created by [[Tiberian Arelius]]. With this treatment, healing occurs when Ziel sleeps with sparks of lightning madra playing through his spirit and over his body. This is logical, because it was lightning the Stormcaller’s Sage used to rip his spirit to shreds. It involves Forging runes out of madra so they float in rings in midair, effectively creating scripts that have one of many different effects. The strength of the Path is its flexibility, the weakness is the precision and years of training that it required to master.

Cladia is named after her command of the Arelius [[Bloodline Abilities|bloodline ability]]. She may be the only Sage that isn't named after her Path. ([https://www.abidanarchive.com/events/12/#e1005 Abidan Archive 1005])

She barely survived the fall of her Monarch [[Tiberian Arelius]]:<blockquote>“What about the Arelius homeland? The Sage of a Thousand Eyes has an honorable reputation. He hadn't been to the homeland for seven years, but memory of his last failure was still harsh. “I'm afraid the doorway doesn't open for another three years. Cladia’s Overlady Revelation was similar to Eithan’s: I see. ==Descriptions==

Cladia is an older woman, but not elderly. She has grey-blond hair and blue eyes. Her demeanor is relaxed and faintly amused. When [[Reigan Shen]] killed Tiberian, she nearly died too, and was thought dead by some, but she appeared alive and well during the [[Uncrowned King Tournament]] ([[Wintersteel]] ch 7).

==Her Home==
Arelius funds are in short supply since [[Reigan Shen]] killed their Monarch, so the home is not grand. The Sage lives in the Arelius homeland on Rosegold. Her home is scripted, secret, hidden underground, but the land has been destroyed by Shen, the countryside covered in ash ([[Wintersteel]] ch 7).

==Her Relationships==
Cladia brought two Underlords to compete in the [[18th Uncrowned King Tournament]], young cousins [[House Arelius#Veris & Altavian|Veris and Altavian Arelius]]. On her advice, at at Eithan’s request, they both gave their contestant awards to [[Lindon]] (iron heart) and [[Yerin]] (diamond veins). Cladia also seems to be on cordial terms with fellow Sages [[Akura Charity]] and [[Min Shuei]].

Cladia is on friendly terms with [[Eithan Arelius]]. As a Sage in good repute, she invites him back to their Rosegold home for supposed training, after he makes it to the semi-final rounds of the UKT. They share some humor and then he advances to Overlord in a few seconds, just before they sit for dinner ([[Wintersteel]] ch 7).

Of course, she hates [[Reigan Shen]].

At that time, Cassias wanted to marry [[Naru Jing]] but for political reasons the idea was not warmly welcomed by either his own family or her royal family. So, he gave Eithan his position as heir-Patriarch to the Blackflame branch of the Arelius family, in return for Eithan’s support in wedding Jing. Her father is an important member of the [[Naru Clan]], and vital to the empire for his battle skills (see Underlord).

==Bio==
Fisher Gesha is an old master soulsmith of the [[Fisher Sect]]. Her water-based sect lives in the Purelake area in the [[Desolate Wilds]] region of the western Blackflame Empire. She first met [[Wei Shi Lindon Arelius]] there at the [[Labyrinth]] in [[Soulsmith]], book 2. [[Eithan]] employed her to join his party and become Lindon's [[Soulsmithing]] tutor. Eventually her family left the Desolate Wilds behind to join her in the heart of the [[Blackflame Empire]], where they are gaining a reputation as soulsmiths.

Path of the Fishers. See [[Paths]]. Highgold. When her launcher construct helped defeat [[Redmoon Hall]] intruders, Emperor [[Naru Huan]] rewards her with high grade force scales so she can advance to Truegold (Ghostwater ch 18) so.. .
She cycles Aspects of force madra, attraction force like gravity. Goldsign, webbed fingers. “Hidden Spring Iron body” enables better chance of survival with limited water, as in the arid western desert and blighted [[Desolate Wilds]]

Her rank is Highgold through the end of book five. ==Descriptions==
Fisher Gesha is an ancient, miniature woman, her face a mask of wrinkles, gray hair pulled back in a tight bun. She is short and tiny. Purple spider legs of forged madra stretch out from beneath her, raising her to ordinary height. These also serve as her drudge. She has a hooked blade of gleaming goldsteel hung on her back, as do others in the [[Fisher Sect]]. Her fingers are webbed, the Path of the Fisherman Goldsign. She is energetic, curious, industrious despite her age, snappish, bossy, but also kind.

==Bio==
Because Lindon has an interest in becoming a Soulsmith, he greatly admired Fisher Gesha's skill, and asked her for work. She taught him how to produce pure madra scales, and although she acted gruffly towards him, she begrudgingly began to feel some attachment for him. When Lindon and Yerin were captured after an ill-conceived attempted scale heist, Fisher Gesha at first tried to coax [[Jai Long]] into releasing them, claiming that they were only children. Jai Long told her that their actions would be seen as undermining the Five Faction Alliance, Fisher Gesha ultimately chose to abandon both Yerin and Lindon to the slavers.

Fisher Gesha is the matriarch of the [[Fisher Sect]], and old Fisher Ragahn is the patriarch and chief. Although she is strict with her younger family members, she is extremely devoted to them. She joined Eithan's expedition to the [[Blackflame Empire]] stating that she wanted to see the world, although she had initially refused, not wanting to leave her family behind. After going ahead of them to scout the situation, Fisher Gesha decided that the Blackflame Empire held great opportunity for the Fisher clan, and the rest of her family joined her to open a Soulsmithing shop. When she gained the favor of Emperor Naru Huan, she was gifted with a box of materials that would advance her to Truegold. Not wanting power only for herself, Fisher Gesha asked if the materials in the box could be distributed to her younger family members for their advancement, upon which Emperor Naru gifted her with a second box of treasured materials for her family.
