Ozmanthus is the ancient Founder of [[House Arelius]]. He lived about 4500 years ago — but this is a guesstimate. It is certain that he lived before the [[Dreadgod]] problem. See Date of Birth:

Unknown, but long before the rise of Dreadgods. The big problem in his time were the [[Dreadbeasts]]:<blockquote> He never lost his admiration for those who kept the world clean, and one of the most hideous plagues in the world was the population of dreadbeasts that roamed the countryside, feeding and spewing out more of their kind. Also, the author has hinted Ozmanthus ascended from Cradle roughly four or five thousand years ago, on his Archives. The series of books show that before he joined the Abidan, he wandered a while, studied other worlds and cultures, was a monk, etc. Then he worked with third division (Spider) support groups, but the [[Vroshir]] killed his entire team, so to combat them, he made his killer reaping scythe. Thus, it was many years —- could be two or three thousand years — after he ascended, that he created this scythe and began working directly with the seven [[Abidan]] Judges. <blockquote> A few thousand standard years ago, the Abidan could only care for two hundred and fifty Iterations. That was as far as they could stretch their forces, because they had to protect each world from the chaos-tainted fragments that hunted the edges of the Way. Ozmanthus founded House Arelius and advanced to become Monarch of the Rosegold continent. Today, his family line is well-respected, with — until recently — vast holdings on the Rosegold continent. His descendants have traveled to set up Arelius family branches all over the world, on every continent, including Ashwind, and the [[Blackflame Empire]]. They are known by their yellow-blond hair, blue eyes, and keen sense of awareness via their detection madra ([[Bloodline Abilities]]).

==Bio==
We first glimpse a tantalizing hint of Oz in book 1, Unsouled, when [[Suriel]] comes to Cradle:

The pillars where he debated the ten greatest scholars of the day, leading three to commit suicide soon after. The City of Anvils, sealed now, where he’d forged his first weapon. The labyrinth where he died and returned to life. The country home, buried beneath a meadow now, where his fury had first touched the Way. (Unsouled, chapter 6) </blockquote >

===His childhood===
Ozmanthus was born on the Rosegold continent on Cradle. He was named after a flower. His father isn’t mentioned, but his mother didn’t have extra money to spend on elixirs for his advancement so it was fortunate that he didn’t need them. At a young age he found out about a secret wondrous land called Arelius, about which he dreamed and researched, even as he trained. He was an incredibly gifted child. At Copper he possessed a level of insight and understanding far beyond his peers. He designed his own Iron Body and Path. Presumably around seven years old, as a Jade, he discovered that most of his friends of the same age group were Coppers. This did not disturb him, however, because he figured they’d catch up, and he just wanted to find Arelius.

===Young Adulthood===
As a very young Underlord, Ozmanthus manifested the Broom Icon and created a powerful weapon — a broom — to sweep away all the [[Dreadbeasts]] that plagued the world. He was able to create the weapon because during roughly the same time period, Ozmanthus discovered a [[Labyrinth]]:<blockquote>"He found an ancient labyrinth, built by the original Court of Seven before their ascension. He researched their understanding, growing in knowledge and power." (-Reaper, ch 2) </blockquote> He designed his Path around weapon creation, and became a talented forger. His [[Soulsmithing]] laboratory was located in the Labyrinth. Some time after this, he thought, 'why be inefficient'? and modified his Path to one of absolute destruction. He went on to become one of the greatest soulsmiths of his day. In the labyrinth he forged some of the deadliest weapons ever seen on Cradle. He died and came back to life. As a consequence, he manifested the Death Icon.

At some point in time, he gave himself a last name, Arelius, after the wondrous land he wanted to find.

===Monarchy===
Oz advanced to become Monarch of the Rosegold continent. Upon his advancement to Monarch, he developed the infamous Arelius [[Bloodline Abilities|bloodline legacy]], the ability to see /sense everything within range of the spirit.

===Penance===
Something tragic happened, at some unknown time in his adulthood. He felt remorse and created prototype weapons of pure and absolute destruction. Penance, an arrowhead. Eventually, the final construct is offered as top prize at the [[18th Uncrowned King Tournament]]. Penance:<blockquote> Eithan, on his knees, stared at the arrowhead with an intensity Lindon had never seen. His smile was long gone. The messenger smiled at their reaction. “Long ago, the founder of House Arelius created this weapon which he called Penance. It is a penance for its target and, unbeknownst to most, its creation was an act of penance by its creator. (-Uncrowned, chapter 20)</blockquote>

===Ascension===
Ozmanthus voluntarily ascended, feeling disappointed with sacred artists and wanting to see more than this little pond. However, he left behind a measure of his power in a beacon. His hope was that one of his descendants would find this beacon and follow in his footsteps.

==As Ozriel==
Upon his successful induction into the [[Abidan]], Ozmanthus passed his compatibility tests with flying colors and it became clear that he could inherit the Mantle of any Judge except one, [[Suriel]] the Phoenix. He joined the third division and was named the successor to Telariel in record time. He and his fellow spiders encountered a Vroshir ambush and Ozmanthus was the sole survivor. This bothered him, he could have saved them if he had a weapon powerful enough. So, he made one, he combined many Judge-Tier weapons along with one of his own creations and created the Scythe. He became the avatar of true Destruction. The Court of Seven were in awe. They decided to name him [[Ozriel]] The Reaper: Eighth Judge of the Abidan Court.

Ozriel’s job became the reaping of worlds. His Scythe could cull a world so efficiently that there were no Chaos fragments left to threaten other iterations. Once a world became corrupted and the adept population evacuated, Ozriel would destroy the iteration. This allowed the Abidan to expand to thousands of worlds. But with every iteration he destroyed, with every life he ended, the weight on Ozriel’s soul grew bigger and bigger until eventually, it became too much. He begged the court to allow him to raise up his own Division. Reapers that could intervene in Fate and remove corruption at the root before the world was lost. But the Court apposed this, especially [[Makiel]], thus forcing Ozriel to continue reaping.

Eventually the weight on Ozriel was too much to bear and he deserted the Abidan. He knew he couldn’t hide forever, but he needed a break; He needed time on his own. He looked into fate and discovered the planets that would be corrupted next. On these planets he left people and items of cultural significance. Enough to restart the cultures of this planet on a pioneer world. It was in one of these worlds where he was confronted. The Mad King had just so happened to choose this world to test his new creation. The origin shroud; a veil so powerful that even Ozriel didn’t recognize him at first.

===Reaper Descriptions ===
Ozriel stood in his polished black armor, the Mantle of Ozriel streaming behind him like a boiling cape of shadow, and the white hair running down his back. His face cold and distant and grim.

In person, he had more of a sense of humor than any other [[Abidan]], but he always wore an expression like a man bracing himself for terrible news.

===Powers and Techniques===
Employed pure destruction. As Ozmanthus, he was hard to beat. As Ozriel, he is pretty much top of the trees, a nonpareil. 
Ozriel was accomplished and skilled enough to fulfill the duties of any Judge but [[Suriel]]. He has no ability as a Phoenix. He has made it a point to befriend both the previous retired Phoenix of the Abidan and this current one, holding their talents in high esteem.

His coming brought about an era of explosive growth for the A[[abidan|bidan]]. His predictive abilities rivaled that of [[Makiel|Makiel, The Judge of Fate]]. His skills far exceed that of [[Telariel|the Spider]] such that when he went into hiding [[Telariel]] could not find him despite his best attempts and full exertion. He was irreplaceable and the cornerstone around which the [[Abidan]] inadvertently found themselves growing. Ozriel is well-known as the most powerful Judge since the first generation of the [[Abidan|Abidan Court]], and possibly of all time.

The Blackflame Empire is a relatively small chunk of territory located on the northwestern edge of the vast Ashwind Continent. Blackflame Emperor [[Naru Huan]] serves as vassal to the far more powerful [[Akura Malice]], a Monarch in control of Western Ashwind Continent. The dragon-boy [[Seshethkunaaz]] is a Monarch in control of all of Eastern Ashwind Continent. Akura and Dragon are deadly enemies.

===Unsouled===
Kelsa lives in the Wei clan along with the rest of the Shi family as a Copper on the Path of the White Fox. After Lindon returns with a sacred orus fruit, a spirit-fruit from an ancestral tree, the family argues for Kelsa to receive the whole fruit in order to advance her quickly to Iron in time for an upcoming tournament with the other clans of Sacred Valley. Kelsa instead divides the fruit in half, giving the other half to Lindon.

Days later, before the tournament, Kelsa advances to Iron while sparring with Lindon.

===Underlord===
It is revealed that Kelsa survived the destruction of the Wei clan. She is on the run, either by herself, or with a number of Wei clan survivors. She has been stealing food from the Heaven's Glory and Fallen Leaf Schools in order to survive.

While on the run from several hostile Irons, Kelsa encounters [[Orthos]], who reveals that her brother is alive. Orthos then protects Kelsa from the pursuing Irons. Kelsa takes care of her blinded father, [[Wei Shi Jaran]], and seeks her mother [[Wei Shi Seisha]], who is hostage to the Heaven’s Glory School.

===Uncrowned===
Kelsa leads Orthos to where she and other exiles are hiding. Orthos tells her about Lindon's survival and she is surprised but happy. She introduces him to her father, Wei Shi Jaran, who is blind. Orthos then tells her Lindon's story.

===Wintersteel===
Orthos has retrained Kelsa, this time with a perfect Iron body (Skyhunter) and raised her to Jade. She is eager to go save her mother from Heaven's Glory, but Orthos is more hesitant. They then sense the Wandering Titan's awakening.

===Reaper===
She advances to Lowgold and acquires a goldsign — a foxtail of purple-white foxfire . She shows romantic interest in [[Jai Long]] and helps organize the Sect of Twin Stars.

Chen was born with a promising future into the then-prominent Jai Clan, highly ranked in the [[Blackflame Empire]]. However, she was largely ignored after suffering a seemingly incurable injury to her madra channels when she was attacked in bed at only six years old. She is the younger sister of [[Jai Long]], who is eight years older than her. Because of his own sudden facial deformation, incurred during the same attack that injured his little sister, he was exiled to the Desolate Wilds, despite his promise and ability. Still a child, Jai Chen went “out west” along with her big brother, because he wanted to care for her and seek treatment for her. They found a home with the [[Sandviper Gokren|Sandviper]] sect in the Desolate Wilds, a desert, with twisted black trees and numerous dreadbeasts. They sought the powerful Ancestor’s Spear in the ancient Labyrinth — the Transcendent Ruins. She lived in the desert for about 8 years, roughly. Then she went East with her brother to Serpent’s Grave.

Jai Chen is roughly the same age as [[Wei Shi Lindon Arelius]] (Skysworn, ch 4). She’s a young teenage girl in book 2 [[Soulsmith]], about 14 years old. By book 10, she’s probably about 19.

==Injuries==
When she was six years old, Jai Chen suffered from a crippling disability (mangled madra channels) as the result of an attack by a remnant. She went to the Desolate Wilds with her brother [[Jai Long]], who was only fourteen. He searched for a way to gain power and to heal her. She was healed by [[Wei Shi Lindon Arelius]] and [[Little Blue]] and seems to have unique, possibly living madra due to the remnant attack and subsequent events.

==Path==
Unclear. As a child, she would probably have been just Foundational following the Jai Clan sacred arts -- the [[Path of the Stellar Spear]]. However, that ended when she was injured. She did accidentally gain a touch of the famous Aurelius [[Bloodline Abilities]] (perception, to see) and some of Lindon's pure madra when she used the Ancestors Spear to kill her enemy while he was holding The Archstone -- a forbidden relic that had absorbed madra from the surrounding people (see [[Skysworn]], also see [[Bloodline]]).

*Eithan examines her, after she was exposed to the Archstone:
<blockquote>Eithan ran his spiritual sense through her soul. Thanks to Sylvan Riverseed's touch, her madra channels had been rebalanced, cleansed, and purified. Without that, she would have lost control of her madra and died already. As it was, she was just barely holding on. A sack stuffed to capacity and coming apart at the seams, but not in danger of bursting. “Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do for her,” Eithan said, and Jai Long's twisted face began to fall behind his mask. “...but fortunately, there's also no need. She will survive this. And her core will be filled with quite unique madra, so that's a treat. You were quite lucky that Lindon and I were here, and that Lindon's Blackflame core was empty, otherwise the madra would have reached a critical imbalance. As it is, none of our madra conflicted too badly with each other. They will blend together in her.” She would also gain some measure of the Arelius bloodline ability, though she would have to expend madra to use it, while Eithan's happened naturally. She really had ended up in quite a unique situation, and he looked forward to seeing how she handled it. “She will have difficulty controlling her madra for a while,” he continued. “But then...well, she has a unique Path ahead of her.” ([[Skysworn]])</blockquote>
Later in the series, in book 10, Lindon gives Jai Chen advice on cycling. Excerpt:

She advances to Lowgold in book 10. She has no goldsign (but neither does Eithan or Lindon). She has some of Eithan's [[Bloodline Abilities]], the ability to stretch out her madra to see.

==Fingerling==
Sometime after Lindon healed her, Jai Chen bonded / contracted with a tiny ferocious pink dragon-spirit. It seems to have come from her own living madra. Fingerling can see up to a mile away and its madra dissolves enemies. This dragon-spirit first appears in book 4, [[Skysworn]], during Lindon's duel with Jai Long.

But at the same time, it was also...refined, in a way he couldn't describe. Like Jai Long's power had been boiled down, purified, perfected, and then strengthened. And there were elements that reminded him of a storm. It was a confusing, overwhelming mass of impressions, and he couldn't make sense of them before the dragon burst in a massive flash of essence, dissolving almost instantly. “I did it,” Jai Chen said, her smile broad. Working with [[Wei Shi Kelsa]], she recruits new members and manages the sect. The sect sprang to life in the Desolate Wilds shantytown of Refuge and continued in Serpent’s Grave. Because of his own sudden facial deformation, incurred during the same attack that injured his little sister, he was exiled to the Desolate Wilds, despite his promise and ability. Still a child, little Jai Chen went “out west” with her big brother, because he wanted to care for her and seek treatment for her.

==Desolate Wilds==
In the Desolate Wilds, young Jai Long found a friend and a home in [[Sandviper Gokren]], the chief of his sect in the Desolate Wilds. For roughly eight years, the Jai siblings lived among the Sandvipers in the Wilds — a desert, with twisted black trees and numerous dreadbeasts. When opportunity arose, Jai Long and the Sandvipers sought the powerful Ancestor’s Spear in the ancient Labyrinth — the Transcendent Ruins. He was determined to care for his sister and to wreak vengeance on his unfaithful clan, especially on the Patriarch, Underlord [[Jai Daishou]].

==Age==
Jai Long was 14 when he was attacked and then exiled because his face was disfigured. He is eight years older than his sister [[Jai Chen]]. By the time of book 2, [[Soulsmith]], he might be about 22-23. By book 10, [[Reaper]], he would probably be about 28ish.

Jai Long is slim and wiry. "He was roughly as tall as Lindon, but thinner, so that his build matched that of his spear" (Soulsmith)
 
Disfigured face: Jai Long has his head wrapped in scripted red cloth because his face is scarred to resemble a snake, as the result of a gold sign given to him by a remnant from a twisted version of the [[Path of the Stellar Spear]]. The gold sign is a hideous face. Jai Long does not like to think about it or deal with people’s horrified reactions so he covers it with red bandages.

 Manic laughter: "His voice hadn’t changed, but his laugh. . .It rang out of him, wild and crazy, like the cackling of a deranged murderer. His usual voice was cool and composed, but when he laughed, he sounded like a blood-drunk killer.'' (Soulsmith)''

Jai Long is hardworking, thoughtful, careful, determined, protective, and loyal. He can also be driven and vengeful, yet also grateful, forgiving, and merciful. Because his Jai family proved utterly faithless and fickle, he is slow to trust and quite cynical. He is learning to forgive and trust Lindon.

==Path & Injury==
In his youth, Jai Long’s affinity with the Path of the Stellar Spear was second only to the clan’s Patriarch, an aged Underlord named Jai Daishou. Recognizing his potential and seeing the need to raise up a second Underlord as an heir to the aging Patriarch, Jai clan elders stalled Jai Long’s advancement at Jade until a suitable Remnant from the Path of the Stellar Spear became available. Ideally, a Jai clan elder would die and Jai Long would draw the sacred artist’s Remnant into his core, processing the power and advancing to Lowgold.

However, after an attack on the Jai head family by a group of rebels practicing a warped version of the Path of the Stellar Spear, Jai Long was forced to capture and process the twisted Remnant of a defeated rebel Lowgold to protect his sister, [[Jai Chen]]. Jai Long easily broke through to Lowgold aided by the power of the processed Remnant, but had deviated from the Path of the Stellar Spear in doing so. Jai Long was marked with a Goldsign that twisted and scarred his face and the unusual ability to imbue Forged madra with temporary life, specializing in Forged snakes.

==Duel with Lindon==
In the Desolate Wilds, Jai Long swore to duel [[Lindon]] for killing his friend, Sandviper Kral. A year later, Long is a Truegold in Serpent’s Grave. Jai Long and Truegold [[Sandviper Gokren]], Karl’s father, first confront Lindon in the Serpent’s Grave training grounds. During this battle, Lindon and Orthos kill Gokren, while [[Yerin]] duels Jai Long, and meanwhile, simultaneously, Lindon advances to Lowgold. (see [[Blackflame]]).
 
Later, in the official duel refereed by [[Naru Gwei]], Jai Long overwhelms Lindon. However, in gratitude for healing his sister [[Jai Chen]], Long attempts to call the duel finished when Lindon is down. However, his Patriarch [[Jai Daishou]] forces him to continue, so he cuts off Lindon’s arm at the elbow. (Skysworn)
==Retreat West==
After the duel, the Emperor censures the entire Jai clan, because Patriarch Jai Daishou opened the western Labyrinth — which can attract Dreadgods and is off-limits. He also illegally retrieved and employed the Archstone, a restricted ancient weapon. Jai Long and his sister head west, towards the Desolate Wilds and beyond to [[Sacred Valley]]. Eventually, they meet Lindon’s sister, [[Wei Shi Kelsa]], and [[Orthos]]

==Advancing to Underlord==
In book 10 [[Reaper]], Jai Long accepts some advice and sacred treasures from Lindon. Some months later, with battle raging all around his camp, he accidentally comes upon his own personal Underlord Revelation, and soulfire renews him. He emerges from the transformation. . .unknown. . .to be determined.

The desolate Wilds consists of wastelands and forest with corrupted trees and poisoned waters, which spans across the western edge of the [[Blackflame Empire]], ending with the mountain ranges that hide [[Sacred Valley]]

It took [[Wei Shi Lindon Arelius|Lindon]] and [[Yerin Arelius|Yerin]] weeks to cross on a [[Thousand Mile Cloud]] and [[Sky's Mercy]], so it presumed to be fairly large.

==History==
Almost a thousand years ago, the Desolate Wilds were totally lawless, plagued by beasts and by wild sacred artists no better than animals themselves. Each man considered himself an Emperor, each woman an Empress, and they ruled whatever they could take at the end of a blade. But one day a woman emerged from nowhere with a shining spear in her hands. She united these rogue sacred artists under one name, killing those who resisted, and spreading law and civilization across the Wilds. For the next two centuries, while she lived, all the Wilds remained peaceful under her rule.

==Inhabitants==
The Desolate Wilds hosts a large population of [[Dreadbeasts]]. Humans live in sects out in the wastelands. Among these sects Five major tribes formed an alliance by the name of Five Factions Alliance. The alliance consists of : [[Jai Clan]], [[Fisher Sect]], Cloud Hammer Sect, [[Sandviper Sect]] and an Unknown faction.

There are only handful of [[Truegold (Advancement)|Truegolds]] and only one [[Underlord (Advancement)|Underlord]] in Desolate Wilds.

==Personality==
As a Great Elder Ach'magut does not have a personality that can be compared to humankind, however like all the Great Elders, Ach'magut does posses a set of goals:

#To be free of the prison world [[Asylum]]
#To seek knowledge above everything, at any cost

Because of this Ach'magut does not necessarily want the malicious destruction of humankind. [[Emperor|The Emperor]] actually learned [[Reading]] in [[Ach'magut's Library]] and organizations such as [[The Sleepless]] view him, along with [[Kelarac]], as one of the best hopes for human and non-human interaction. However, above everything else Ach'magut simply wants to learn and then to move on. Whether humans survive or not is completely irrelevant.

The Emperor also describes him in the following: "''In a way, the human world is his creation more than my own. He spared my life, gave me the education I needed to advance Reading and build an empire. He's not a destroyer, he's a parasite. He leaches onto a world until he's learned everything he can, and then he moves on. But he's not above taking something apart to see how it works.''"

He as also been known to allow deviations from his plans as long as it means that he can learn more from the deviation.

==Powers & Abilities==
Ach'magut possesses all the powers and abilities that are common of the Great Elders. This includes an absolute mastery of [[Intent]] and a presence that could easily corrupt the minds of humans that go near him, as well as commanding an army of [[Elder Spawn]] to further his goals. However, Ach'mugut's powers are reduced substantially while he is trapped on Asylum. Despite this handicap he is still far beyond the abilities of most humans.

===Near Omniscience===
Ach'magut is a Great Elder with authority over knowledge, as such his intelligence is beyond the humans on Asylum. Even The Emperor himself cannot match Ach'magut in a battle of wits. He has also demonstrated the ability to predict events far in the future as well as concoct plans that span millennia.

===Immortality===
It is virtually impossible to permanently kill a Great Elder such as Ach'magut. His body has been destroyed a few times, but given enough time he will always reform.

===Knowledge Bestowal===
When Ach'magut speaks, the full meaning and nuance of his words is directly sent to the receivers mind. Most of his sentences only span a few words, but each word essentially has the meaning of an entire speech.

With it we had seen Eithan regularly do what other Underlords considered impossible, and not just by the meager standards of the Blackflame Empire. That being said, Eithan was also loathe to reveal the strength of his techniques, in fact, other than his eEnforcer technique Hollow Armor, and general bursts of power, Eithan almost never used his techniques at all. It was only in a rare confrontation with [[Longhook]] where Eithan believed himself to be unobserved that he even used other techniques.

'''Ziel of the Wasteland''' is a man under the [[Beast King]]'s protection who is a Truegold or Underlord in power due to his shattered spirit, but was an Archlord before the damage.

==Appearance==
Ziel has two upward-curving emerald horns, they’re luminous lime green at the base and they run up the gradient to the points, which are dark green. Ziel is described as looking older than he actually is because of how he carries himself. He has bloodshot, half-lidded eyes and a tired looking, weary, and worn expression. Ziel wears a grey cloak that is stained and dirty that had once been a emblem dyed into the back that could have been a lotus flower or a web. He is also often quite close to his massive warhammer that he has to drag around: its haft is as long as he is tall, its head the width of his body. He has shoulder-length, slightly curly/shaggy black hair. Because of the way sacred arts progression works and his Archlord body, he looks like a 18-year-old despite being 35 having had his body re-forged in <nowiki>[[Soulfire]]</nowiki> thrice.

==History==
Ziel of the Wasteland used to be known as the leader of the Dawnwing sect and a genius when it came to the sacred arts. This can been seen by the fact that his body looks no older than 18 despite having once been an Archlord, and that he was a competitor in both recent Uncrowned tournaments. At a certain point after the Weeping Dragon moved past the land, Ziel and his sect were attacked by the Weeping Dragon's servants and in a failed attempt to rescue his apprentices he fought and lost to the Weeping Dragon cult's Sage. His soul was then torn apart and stuck back together completely wrong, leaving him weakened to the level of a Truegold or an Underlord (While there is usually a clear distinction between the two, Ziel has qualified for both the [[Ghostwater (Pocket World)|Ghostwater]] visit and the [[Uncrowned King Tournament]], so his power level is unclear).
