Ozmanthus (Eithan) Arelius is the Grand Patriarch of House Arelius, and the Eighth Judge of the Abidan Court.

Distinguishing Eithan

As seen in book 10, Reaper, Ozmanthus is Eithan Arelius. He is the same person. . . yet he is not. Over the course of several thousand years, Ozmanthus as Ozriel has changed from his pre-ascendant self on Cradle. For example, now he seeks a Joy Icon. He’s not a big fan of pure destruction. He realizes that he wasn’t the nicest person on Cradle, when he was Monarch. Thus, he is happy in book 10, when the team is in the Labyrinth meeting ghost-memories, and Yerin tells him she likes Eithan much more than his arrogant ancestor, Ozmanthus. Later, after the Mad King scene, Little Blue hugs his shins, and he cries, realizing it may be the first time he’s shed tears as the Reaper. Much earlier in the series, he promises to stop keeping secrets from his students, and in book 6 he even halfway apologizes to his cousin Cassias Arelius for holding all the cards too close, something he acknowledges as a weakness of his — (probably dating all the way back to the reign of Ozmanthus).
In sum, E=O but he appears to be striving for a kinder gentler version of himself, with a less arrogant demeanor, while maintaining his determination, skill, and strength.

Appearance

Eithan is a tall, somewhat lanky man. He has long flowing yellow hair that he is quite fond of. He tends to dress in fine robes of the highest quality and get's visibly upset when they are soiled. He has pale blue eyes and always has a smile on his face.

Most of the witnesses looked disgusted, confused, or alarmed, save for the main with the long yellow hair that Lindon had seen before. At least, he assumed it was the same man; in a camp this size, perhaps there were many disciples of this strange Path that lightened hair color. He was wearing intricate robes of blue and white, so that the cape on his shoulders was raised and separated to resemble wings. it looked as though he'd prepared for a parade.

He met Lindon's glance with eyes of pale blue, no doubt another consequence of his Goldsign. He gave a cheery wave. -Soulsmith, Chapter 8, Page 105

Personality

Eithan has a very carefree attitude toward everything. He is rarely seen without a smile on his face. He tends to make jokes in face of danger in an attempt to lighten the mood. He enjoys toying with his opponents and making fun of them while fighting. He is so carefree that others around him often wonder if he is taking the situation seriously enough. His attitude often gets him in trouble and angers those around him. Even so, in typical Eithan Fashion, he doesn't care.

Biography

Pre-Books:

Ozmanthus Arelius was an incredibly gifted child. At Copper he possessed a level of insight and understanding far beyond his peers. He designed his own Iron Body and Path. He manifested the Broom Icon at Underlord and went on to become one of the greatest Soulsmiths of his day. He discovered The Labyrinth where he forged some of the deadliest weapons to ever grace Iteration 110. As a consequence, he manifested the Death Icon. Upon his advancement to Monarch, he developed the infamous Arelius bloodline ability, the ability to See. After this he ascended; but he left behind a measure of his power in a beacon. His hope was that one of his descendants would find this beacon and follow in his footsteps.

Upon his successful induction into the Abidan, Ozmanthus passed his compatibility tests with flying colors and it became clear that he could inherit the Mantle of any Judge except one, Suriel. He joined the third division and was named the successor to Telariel in record time. He and his fellow spiders encountered a Vroshir ambush and Ozmanthus was the sole survivor. This bothered him, he could have saved them if he had a weapon powerful enough. So, he made one, he combined many Judge-Tier weapons along with one of his own creations and created the Scythe. He became the avatar of true Destruction. The Court of Seven were in awe. They decided to name him Ozriel, The Reaper: Eighth Judge of the Abidan Court.

Ozriel’s job became the reaping of worlds. His Scythe could cull a world so efficiently that there were no Chaos fragments left to threaten other iterations. Once a world became corrupted and the adept population evacuated, Ozriel would destroy the iteration. This allowed the Abidan to expand to thousands of worlds. But with every iteration he destroyed, with every life he ended, the weight on Ozriel’s soul grew bigger and bigger until eventually, it became too much. He begged the court to allow him to raise up his own Division. Reapers that could intervene in Fate and remove corruption at the root before the world was lost. But the Court apposed this, forcing Ozriel to continue reaping.

Eventually the weight on Ozriel was too much to bear and he deserted the Abidan. He knew he couldn’t hide forever, but he needed a break; He needed time on his own. He looked into fate and discovered the planets that would be corrupted next. On these planets he left people and items of cultural significance. Enough to restart the cultures of this planet on a pioneer world. It was in one of these worlds where he was confronted. The Mad King had just so happened to choose this world to test his new creation. The origin shroud; a veil so powerful that even Ozriel didn’t recognize him at first. When they fought, Ozriel overpowered him easily and took the Shroud. Seeing The Mad King with the shroud gave Ozriel an idea. He would raise up warriors outside of the Abidan’s influence and fix the broken system that they had been using for millennia. He repaired and perfected the origin shroud, and used it on himself. He traveled to the place of his birth, Cradle. The veil was so tight that he became mortal again. He adapted his Path of the Hollow king to pure madra and set out under a new name, Eithan Aurelius.

Upon his return to Cradle, Eithan visited the main branch of his family on the Rosegold continent. He presented himself as a young Underlord and shocked his descendants by entering and passing the tests of the First Patriarchs Tomb (His own tomb.) The current patriarch of the family, Tiberian Arelius took notice and made Eithan one of his closest advisors. When Eithan came forward with a plan to kill the Dreadgod’s once and for all, Tiberian decided to follow his advice. The plan hinged on the cooperation of the other Monarchs but Eithan advised Tiberian NOT to approach his neighboring Monarch, Reigan Shen, with the idea. However, Tiberian did approach the lion, Reigan Shen. Reigan saw the value in the Hand of Subject One but not in the way Tiberian did. He attacked Tiberian and overpowered him. After killing the Arelius Monarch, Reigan rained hell upon their lands and massacred their people. Eithan, seeing the destruction he had brought upon his descendants, couldn’t bear to stay. He left and traveled to the Blackflame Empire.

Upon arrival in the Blackflame empire, where Underlords are significantly less common, he became the Patriarch of the Blackflame branch of his family. He remained in this capacity for several years before the Cradle series begins, with book 1.

Soulsmith:

Eithan sensed the change in the iteration after what Suriel in Sacred Valley and decided to head that direction ahead of the rest of his family. Upon his arrival he mingles amongst the other sacred artists in the five-faction alliance camp under a veil. It was here that he noticed Lindon and Yerin. He noticed Yerin because he recognized her as the Sword Sage’s disciple, and he noticed Lindon because of how weak he was for his age. Upon a closer inspection he noticed Suriel’s marble and decided that these two would be his students. He started trailing them and even got captured and sent to the mines at the same time that Lindon did. Once in the mines with Lindon and Yerin, he helped them escape the captivity of the Sand Vipers. Eithan then proceeds to lock Lindon inside the Transcendent Ruins in an attempt to get him to advance to Iron. During this time, he continues to train Yerin by having her fight dread beasts within the Transcendent Ruins. After Lindon advances to Iron, they travel towards the center of the ruins. Once there, a fight breaks out and Lindon ends up killing Sand Viper Kral. Eithan reveals himself to be the Arelius Underlord and takes control of the situation. He grants each faction a reward for reaching the prize and promises Jai Long that he will have a chance to avenge Sand Viper Kral in a duel against Lindon in one year’s time. Eithan then takes Lindon and Yerin in officially as his students.

Powers and Techniques

Link the characters path here, along with their Iron body and any notable items or powers they may also have. If they have a bloodline ability it goes here as well. Their path page should have a solid explanation of the paths abilities and limitations, but here you can also touch on how the character uses the path and any special synergy they may gain from other abilities or items they have. Finally a demonstration of their mastery or skill can also be explained here, just a rough estimate of how strong they are in comparison to everyone else.
