World Spirit
Appearance
Unlike Horizon, Shadow Ark takes the physically form of a squat, muscled human with a crown of black horns. He wears violet and black armor in this form[1].
Biography
Initially created to hide from The Last Horizon, Shadow Ark has been a part of few ancient legends and myths, however most of which have been forgotten or unattributed to him. Out of all the Zenith devices, the Zenith Colony is the least known and up until his reawakening, many scholars doubted Ark's existence[2].
Shadow Ark's previous location was orbiting the planet Murrok. According to an ancient myth, almost a thousand years ago Ark was a dark moon that would open every few years to distribute gifts, only to suddenly vanish. The device, now one mile in diameter and unknown to be the Zenith Colony, was later discovered by the Advocates. It further shrunk to a human size, and was taken in to Advocate headquarters for further research[2].
The Engineer
Shadow Ark plays an antagonistic role in The Engineer. After awakening and discovering Horizon is also awake, he leads Starhammer to him.
The Zenith Colony
Appearance
Usually, the Zenith Colony appears to be an obsidian, multifaceted, human-sized, jewel that shone violet at the edges. The flat surfaces were smooth and glossy black, appearing to shift and twist its configuration regularly. The surface can split to reveal a shining violet light[2].
Shadow Ark can shift his appearance and size to be a space station[3].
Abilities
Recruitment: Shadow Ark can send a pulse of violet light targeting worthy mortals that can awaken him.
Internal Colony: The Colony can violate the laws of space reality by bending the Aether, allowing it to expand in size, to atleast a small moon, and allow ships and planets enter[4]. The colony is capable of holding multiple planets. According to Ark, with enough World Spirits cooperating within his system, he could surpass The Last Horizon[5]. Inside the colony, space appears to be a fractured kaleidoscope of purple, and Aether is very limited. Inhabiting planets retain their Aether levels[6].
-Horizon (The Engineer)
Undetectable: Shadow Ark is completely undetectable, capable of hiding those inside of him from any source, including The Last Horizon. This ability extends to Shadow Ark repositioning, which he is only meant to do every few years. When repositions, Shadow Ark is quietly and undetectable, not disrupting Subspace.
Inhabitants
Gatekeeper
To access most of his abilities, Shadow Ark needs a Gatekeeper, a mortal who is dedicated to the ideals of service and defense, with the power to defend and mediate between his inhabitants[5]. Known Gatekeepers include:
