The Last Horizon is the ID of the Zenith starship, and also refers to the World Spirit of the ship.

World Spirit

Horizon is the World Spirit of the Zenith Starship, holding the equivalent Aetheric power and weight as a planet.

Appearance

When she first appeared to Varic Vallenar, Horizon was projected like a hologram out of a blue-green light. She is humanoid, though notably not human, with gnarled branch-like horns coming out of her head. Eyes float around her horns like a halo, and she is typically accompanied by manifested hands. These eyes and hands match Horizon’s colors, but distinct from one another. Horizon actual eyes contain irises in the shape of seven pointed stars. She wears long robes, and is capable of changing her height.

Upon obtaining a new crew member, she gains a new color that corresponds to the crew member’s aura color. As of the Engineer, Horizon is projected in blue (for Varic), red (for Raion), orange (for Omega), yellow (for Shyrax), green (for Sola), and purple (for Mell) light.

Biography

Creation

“My creators were very worried that I would grow beyond their estimations, though of course they had no need to worry. I would never go against their wishes.”

I could think of any number of questions about that, but I stuck to one at a time.“And what were those wishes?”

Horizon peered up into the sky full of memories with a wistful look. “To explore the galaxy. To settle it, and to push the boundaries of our understanding. To find adventure snd prevent stagnation. To ensure that peace is never boring.”[1]

Most of Horizon’s creators were human, but there was cooperation with the Aethril.

Horizon’s first captain was an Aethril Aethertechnician with a starship gift, which made her very compatible with Horizon. Together, they would settle planets and establish colonies.

History with the Other Zenith Devices

Horizon and the other Zenith Devices typically do not get along. When two or more Devices are awake at the same time, they often end up in petty arguments and battles to show who is better. Additionally, the Zenith Devices usually hate sharing their mortals with each other and refuse to do so except in extreme circumstances. In Horizon’s case, she is very possessive over her crew members.

Other Notes:

  • Shadow Ark was created to hide from The Last Horizon.

Magic

Memory Manifestation

Allows Horizon to manifest the eyes and hands of those who left a deep impression on Horizon. The manifested eyes and hands carry the person’s abilities and/or skills. For example, eyes and hands could have embedded spells, or could simply be better skilled for certain tasks due to muscle memory[1]. These hands and eyes are imprinted onto a pseudo-world, Terminus Mundi, that holds their memory[2]. It is this pseudo-world that makes Horizon a World Spirit. Horizon has at least 563 residents memorized in Terminus Mundi. Current known inhabitants include:

  1. Horizon’s first Captain, an Aethril Aether Technician.
  2. A Hypno-Goat from Xyleria Two: Eyes that spew Hypnotic Magic.

Horizon was not built with this magic, and she taught it herself[1].

Varic Vallenar is Horizon’s only captain to have inherited this magic[1].

The Zenith Starship

Appearance

The Zenith Starship is light cruiser four hundred yards in length. It has dark, smooth, metal hull plates that appear to be almost organic. The shape of the ship vaguely resembles a diving bird of prey. A blue-green light shines through the spaces between the hull plates, the bridge viewports, and the forward cannons. This color can shift to the colour of the aura of the crew member who's abilities is being channeled.

The interior of the ship is also covered with dark, smooth, organic metal with blue green lights. The ship’s interior can be rearranged in any order, and Horizon is able to move rooms and systems closer to or further from people. Some rooms, ie. the crew quarters, can be rearranged in any form the person inhabiting wants/desires, including layout and internal dimensions.

Ship Abilities

Long Range Teleportation: The Last Horizon is capable of long range teleportation without use of subspace of her crew members or prospective crew members, an ability that is considered impossible otherwise. The crew member can also choose to reject teleportation. Additionally, there is some unknown limit to the range, Horizon is unable to teleport crew to the otherside of the galaxy.

Adaptive Systems: Ship systems are based on the abilities of the crew, and are boosted when the crew is on the ship and at their helms. Systems are limited when she is missing crew members.

Crew Members

A suitable Captain is required for Horizon to wake up. The Captain directs the crew and awakens the ship's power core. With Varic as the Captain, Horizon’s major fuel source comes directly from the Aether. Varic is also able to cast spells through The Last Horizon.

  • The Engineer
    • Current Engineer: Mell
    • Aura Color: Purple

An ideal Engineer is an Aether Technician or has high compatibility for Aethertech. The Engineer awakens drones and a number of internal systems, and improves repairs based on the Technician's nature. Horizon’s major fabricators also awaken, allowing for the replication of high grade Aethertech with the right materials[3]. With Mell as the Engineer, Horizon is able to build up fleets crewed by Mell’s Nova-Bots with her fabricators with very cheap materials gathered from asteroids [4]. Horizon’s self-repair systems also improved drastically, and less materials are required. Without an Engineer, Horizon has very few drones.

The Knight is in charge of ship security, internal and external, both shield systems and certain inner security measures. An ideal Knight is a master Combat Artist who can channel their Art through Horizon, and willing to lay down their life for their comrades. With Raion as the Knight, Horizon’s shield strength is boosted. Raion can also channel his Combat Art through Horizon, allowing Horizon to use short-range lasers that trail fire in the rhythm of The Dance of the Burning World [5]. Without a Knight, Horizon’s shields are very weak, and can only take a few shots before breaking.

  • The Pilot
    • Current Pilot: Omega.
    • Aura Color: Orange

The Pilot Evolves Horizon’s navigational systems and Subspace drive, and enhances Horizon’s scanners. With Omega as the Pilot, Horizon once again becomes the fastest ship, capable of moving through long dives through Subspace without Drive failure. Omega is also able to share his unique Subspace diving technology with Horizon[6]. Without a Pilot, Horizon can only use a default Subspace Drive.

  • The Commander

The Commander commands Horizon’s fighters and shuttles. The Commander improves sensors and certain tactical systems. With Shyrax as the Commander, Shyrax is able to slightly enhance the fleets under her command, but not The Last Horizon itself. Without a Commander, Horizon has no shuttles. The Commander commands Horizon’s fabricated fleets. Horizon’s ships also resemble diving birds of prey, with smooth plates of dark metal that shone turquoise in the gaps. The sizes of the ships vary, most are frigates or destroyers, and very few battleships[6].

The Sword evolves Horizon’s guns and alternate weapons systems. With Sola as the Sword, Horizon gains access to Sola’s arsenal of weaponry, including a version of Worldslayer. Without a Sword, Horizon’s weapons are very weak.

Special Ship Locations

Vault

The protections to reach the vault are complete and seamless, built to withstand escape from World Spirits equivalent to Horizon even if the doors are open[7]. The vault is kept hidden, with dangerous, potentially world-ending objects, or rather, Horizon’s trophies, kept inside. Horizon usually keeps this room a secret from even her Captain’s except in the most dire circumstances. Glass walls that encrypt any transmitted messages line the cells containing the objects. The glass is only transparent to those looking in[8]. Horizon can also keep minds in those cells in stasis[9].
