Eventually, he discovers the legendary Zenith Starship The Last Horizon, and becomes her Captain. Now as the galaxy's only seven-fold Archmage, Varic and his crew—made of people he knew in his alternative lives— save the galaxy as the threats he had seen begin to reemerge.

He also wears an amber amulet around his neck.

Biography

Before the Ritual

Varic was the loyal heir to the Vallenar Corporation. He designed a ritual that he believed would allow him learn more than one magic discipline, a feat generally seen as impossible. Instead, the ritual forced Varic to experience five different lives, one for each magical discipline he gained. In each life, Varic witnessed, and fough against, a galactical threat that would eventually killed him.

After the Ritual

After the ritual, Varic left his father Benri Vallenar and the Vallenar Corporation. In the following year, he tried to prevent every universe ending threat he foresaw. He raided the Grand Hive and shot the barely formed Iron King into a sun. He saved Starhammer's home and wife Leilari from the Priest of Night, to prevent Starhammer from spiraling into a galatic tyrant. The D'Niss had already been driven out by the Titan Force, so nothing was needed to prevent the threat, though Varic still felt as though he abandoned the Titan Force.

The Captain

After he completed his preventions for the end of the universe, Varic taught magic at the Magic Tower. Here, Varic avoided the Vallenar Corporation and remained known as a Archmage in seals and binding and a skilled water elementalist. Despite the fact he was only meant to stick to the curriculum of combat spells, Varic lessons included non-traditional uses of magic, in attempt to help his students reach a deeper level of understanding in magic and expand their capabilities. This led to Varic being suspended for a month by Director Porellus. In that month, Varic discovered the Zenith Starship after hearing about a search for it on the Galactic Union Subline, and becomes the Captain.

First Life

His first life was the life he lived before ritual. In this life, he was Benri Vallenar's obedient son.

Second life

In this life, Varic was running from both the corporations and the Galactic Union, and wanted to become a mercenary pilot[2] . He trained under Tanner Hall who taught him navigational magic and the Cosmic Path, though Varic's magical knowledge would eventually surpass his mentor. When the Iron Legion started to expand, Tanner saw an opportunity for profit, which eventually led to Varic's first time in an Iron Hive alone. He was saved by Sola Kalter, and heard her give a speech to the survivors, convincing them to shoot their way out of the invasion. Inspired by her's dedication against the legion, Varic convinced Tanner to follow Sola after she left, and they began working together. Eventually, the two of them, as well as many others, raided the Grand Hive in a last ditch attempt to take down the Iron King. Only Varic and Sola managed to reach the Iron King in the end. Varic was killed by the Iron King after he plunged his had into Varic's chest, leaving the universe to be taken over by the Iron Legion.

Third life

In this life, Benri gave up on teaching Varic the Mirror of Silence. Instead, Varic chose to train under Kyri Prest to become an arena fighter as a water elementalist. He fought in arena as a prize fighter, and due to his unique status as a human wizard duelist, he was able to fight in the Visiri Prime Coliseum despite his lack of skill. Varic hoped to live up to Kyri's reputation in the arena by relying on only magic, but gave up on it after five years of training, believing he couldn't overcome the natural Visiri strengths. He started to look forward to returning to the Vallenar Corporation, but Kyri had other plans. Instead, she took him with her to fight off the Iron Legion in Lesser Karosha. They stayed in the system for weeks, and Varic had his first Iron Legion Hive raid in this life with Kyri[3].

When they were done, Kyri revealed the Hives had been attacked at once, and fled to the system. She takes Varic to the Titan Force headquarters, where she planned to give them the information, despite its confidentiality. There, after a rocky meeting with Doctor Cryce, Varic and Kyri were taken to see the Blue Divine Titan. Kyri is tested for compatibility for the Divine Titan, but despite her attempts, the Titan doesn't respond to her. As Kyri leaves the Titan, Varic braced himself on its armor to help her out. The Divine Titan awakens at his touch, and while he is stunned, Kyri lifts him into the pilot seat. The Blue Titan shuts down again, still needing to get to know him, but Varic is welcomed into the Titan Knights.

Fourth Life

In this life, Varic is an Archmage of the Mirror of Silence spell. At some point, the Galactic Union starts a civil war in pursuit of galactic dominance, silently led by the secret organization Solstice. Varic knows Omega works against the Galactic Union. The two don't work closely together, nor were friends, though Varic caught a glimpse behind Omega's mask of chaos. Before he is able to figure out Solstice's identity, Varic was executed for treason in a secret prison after a patchwork fleet was sent on a secret operation to capture him.

Fifth Life

In this life, Varic signs a Lagomorph contract. This, along with other arguments and factors, causes Benri to disown Varic. Varic tries to live off as a mage for hire with morals, but after too many nights going hungry and being homeless, Varic gives up and accepts a job from smugglers to verify and protect goods. They end up being caught by Steel Avalanche, who kills the crew. Mell ends up arriving, providing Varic the opportunity to send Steel Avalanche into space via. escape pod. Varic is hired by Mell, and the two eventually end up in a relationship. Varic joins in Mell's Doctor Nova act against the Advocates and Starhammer.

Sixth Life

In this life, Varic is a personal guard to the Karoshan Queen Shyrax. At some point, genetically altered soldiers, the Perfected, came for her. Varic thought he could defeat them with curse spells, as no one was his equal in magic, but failed. Varic was crushed alive under the magical weight of Alazar, the Perfected Mage.

Seventh (Current) Life

Current life.

Facts from previous lives that haven't been sorted to one live or another:

  • One of Varic's first times in an Iron Hive working as a mage for hire for a Galactic Union mercenary group.
  • Varic failure in containing a Solar Dragon's hatching explosion.
  • Varic growing up on Dornoth IV.

Magic and Abilities

Thanks to the ritual he is a sevenfold archmage and has an unique and more complete image of the Aether. His magic disciplines are

  1. Seals and Binding
  2. Navigational Magic
  3. Water Elementalism
  4. Curse Magic
  5. Lagomorph Contract
  6. Mirror of Silence
  7. Memory Manifestation Magic

Varic can also use basic Aether manipulation at a much higher capacity than other mages. This includes the ability to:

  • Use telekineses to catch bullets and carry people, including himself, around.
  • Break other wizard's spells and turn spells against its casters.

Equipment

Lightcaster IV Plasma Pistol: A plasma pistol that shoots orange plasma bullets. Produced by the Vallenar Corporation, this line of weapons has the catchy jingle: "Lightcasters. They work anywhere."

Wand: Enchanted for precise and focus targets. The wand is blue and contains a crystal, and resembles, but isn't, Aethertech. The crystal allows Varic to be sloppy with the incantation, while still keeping the spell ordered[4] , at the cost of flexibility, complexity, and improvisation.

Shield Amulet: Forms a protective, invisible shield around Varic, effective against all kinds of bullets and blunt impacts. The shield is only visible when struck.

Levitation Ring: Allows Varic to move around in space with the use of telekinetic force. It also allows for easier levitation when under gravity, though it is not much faster than running. Varic can also use it in more complex scenarios and to carry heavier weight with it than basic Aether manipulation. It has a limited power supply. It was modeled after the ability of Visiri to hover using their own source of energy.

Eurias: Staff with World Spirit of an Ocean World.

Mantle: The mantle is blue, with runes that surround the hem. These runes glow silver softly when activated. It provides protection against everything, from heat, magic, mental attacks, to the vacuum of space. This allows Varic to survive and move around in space. It also regulates heats. When under heavy attack, the mantle begins to unravel.

Processor Implant: Provides access to the Subline, and send messages to others.
