In another life, Varic fights in the Prime Coliseum on Visiria against his mentor, Kyri Prest. He is badly beaten, and wakes up back in the prep rooms. Kyri visits him after the match, and they discuss his training, where Varic admits that he has given up on fighting in the arena. Seeing his defeat, Kyri takes him to Lesser Karosha to fight off an Iron Legion invasion.

Varic is teleported to Sola first, where she is stopped by Galactic Union soldiers from raiding the Iron Legion’s Scourge Warrens on the planet. They escape the standoff and clean up the infestation, but before they are finished, Horizon warns them that Mell needs help. While Sola remains to continue the clean up, Varic is teleported to Mell. Mell was after information on the Zenith Cannon, before her identity was uncovered and she was attacked. Varic helps her find who knows the most information, but they are interrupted by Omega, who had already found the information. Mell prepares to pack up, and Varic returns to the ship.
