-The first rank of advancement outside of the Lord realm. Very little is known about it.
-The rank of Herald is obtained by fusing with ones remnant and becoming half-spirit. Heralds are no longer limited by their physical capabilities or madra channels.
-Gaining the rank of Herald is one of the necessary steps to advance to Monarch. Though this rank is usually achieved by peak Archlords, in Wintersteel(Cradle #8) Yerin Arelius becomes a herald at Overlord by fusing with her blood-shadow, a technique created by the Sage of the Red Faith.
