Spider Division

Spies. Interstellar Intelligence. Cosmic CIA. The Spiders essentially function as the Abidan intelligence network. They spread their awareness through the Way, sensing deviation and disorder all throughout existence. Spiders maintain the system of Sector Control, through which Iterations are divided into sectors in order to make them easier to manage.

Inter-universal communication between Abidan is also handled by the Spiders, so they have a reputation as the busiest Division. However, they are also known as the weakest in combat, so they are usually left to roles in support and management.

Appearance

Telariel is nondescript, like any good spy. “A straight-backed man wearing glasses and a cane” (Reaper, ch 26)

Personality

Most Spiders may be hard-working, but Telariel is lazy, disreputable, and prone to leaning on the perks of his position. Telariel has long ago reduced his personal responsibility to only handling communication between Judges, which rarely requires his personal attention.

When Ozriel vanished, Telariel cast his laziness aside and bent his full attention to the search. He was soon forced to admit defeat. Ozriel took steps to hide himself from the detection of the Way, and the Spider's skill is nothing next to the Reaper's. (After receiving the blow to his pride, Telariel retreated back into seclusion. To sulk.)

Telariel, the Spider, wouldn’t risk his own life even in the event of total system collapse. (Reaper, ch 2)

Some Abidan are concerned with the well-being of lesser beings, but the Spider and the Fox were not.

Ch 20 bloodline When all the Judges could hear her, Suriel spoke. “Makiel is in recovery. We faced the Mad King and were defeated.” She felt the reactions of the various Judges as though they were her own. Gadrael, the Titan, was astonished that his sponsor could have failed. Razael, the Wolf, wanted to test her own sword against the Vroshir. Zerachiel, the Fox, immediately ran to an Iteration farther away from the Mad King. “By Makiel’s authorization and my own, I send the following command. All Judges, do not engage the Mad King. Abandon any world you cannot hold, and fortify those you can. The Vroshir will finish their raid, and many will die, but soon enough they will leave. We will retreat, and endure, and rebuild.” The Spider and the Fox immediately sent their agreement. They prioritized their own lives and those of the Abidan above all else.(Bloodline ch 20)
