Appearance

Varic has dark skin, and has been genetically engineered to have silver eyes and hair. This appearance makes him look part Aethril, however he is fully human. He has been genetically engineered to look exactly like his father, Benri Vallenar. In his current life, Varic is in his 30s.

Varic wears a blue mantle with runes that surround the hem. These runes glow silver softly when activated.

As Spellbinder: Varic wears a blue, aethertech(digital in his current life) mask hiding his face. This mask has the ability to show digital expressions. Varic wears a black and white checkered top hat with a high collared cape that is "woven in shades of black and white, with a checkerboard pattern here and there."

Biography

The Captain

Before the ritual, Varic was loyal to the Vallenar Corporation, and played the role of his father's obedient heir. Varic himself designed up with the ritual, believing it would allow him learn more than one magic discipline and look more deeply into magic than anyone has ever seen. Instead, the ritual forced Varic to experience five different lives. In each life, he experiences a unique childhood, trains in another magic discipline, and experiences a universe ending threat that ends up killing him.

After the ritual, Varic leaves his father and the Vallenar Corporation. In the following year, he would try to prevent every universe ending threat he foresaw. He raids the Grand Hive and shoots the barely formed Iron King into a sun. He saves Starhammer's home and wife Leilari from the Priest of Night, to prevent Starhammer from spiraling into a galatic tyrant. Presumably, he has also done things to prevent the return of the D'niss, the uprising of the Perfected, and Solstice's civil war.

After completing his preventions for the end of the universe, Varic picks up a career in teaching at the Magic Tower. Here, Varic could avoid the Vallenar Corporation and remained known as a Archmage in seals and binding and a skilled water elementalist. Despite that he is only supposed to teach them combat spells, Varic's lessons included non-traditional uses of magic, in attempt to help his students reach a deeper level of understanding in magic and expand their capabilities. This goes beyond the curriculum Varic was expected to teach, which leads to Varic being suspended for a month by Director Porellus.

In this month, Varic searches for the Zenith Starship after hearing about a search for it on the Galactic Union Subline. He finds the Zenith Starship, The Last Horizon, and becomes the Captain.

Alternative Lives

Varic lived through five alternative lives from the ritual, in addition to the life before the ritual, and his current life after the ritual, making for a total of seven lives he's lived.

First Life

His first life was the life he lived before ritual. In this life, he was Benri Vallenar's obedient son.

Second life

In this life, Varic trained under Tanner Hall, who taught him navigational magic and how to fly. At some point, he was trapped in a Hive on his own, and was saved by Sola. Together, the two, as well as many others, raided the Grand Hive in a last ditch attempt to take down the Iron King. Only Varic and Sola managed to reach the Iron King in the end. Varic was killed by the Iron King after he plunged his had into Varic's chest, leaving the universe to be taken over by the Iron Legion.

Third life

In this life, Varic trained under a mentor who had been an arena fighter as a water elementalist. He fought in a Visiria arena, and was considered a prize fighter. At some point, he met Raion Raithe, the leader of the Titan Knights, and became the Blue Knight. He and Raion become close friends, despite occasionally butting heads. Eventually, the Esh'kinaar, Swarm-Queen of the D'Niss, broke into the dimension. In a fight to stop the invasion, the Esh'kinaar consumed the Yellow Knight and her Divine Titan whole. After two friends were killed, Raion and Varic had an argument. Raion wanted to go and fight, but Varic ended up retiring instead, not wanting to die in the fight. Raion ends up dying and the D'Niss ruled the galaxy. It is unknown how Varic dies.

Fourth Life

In this life, Varic is an Archmage of the Mirror of Silence spell. At some point, the Galactic Union "takes over and starts a civil war in pursuit of galactic dominance." Varic knows Omega works against the Galactic Union. The two don't work closely together, nor were friends, though Varic caught a glimpse behind Omega's mask of chaos. Eventually, Varic was executed in a secret prison.

Fifth Life

In this life, Varic signs a Lagomorph contract. This, along with other arguments and factors, causes Benri to disown Varic. Varic tries to live off as a mage for hire with morals, but after too many nights going hungry and being homeless, Varic gives up and accepts a job from smugglers to verify and protect goods. They end up being caught by Steel Avalanche, who kills the crew. Mell ends up arriving, providing Varic the opportunity to send Steel Avalanche into space via. escape pod. Varic is hired by Mell, and the two eventually end up in a relationship. Varic joins in Mell's Doctor Nova act against the Advocates and Starhammer.

Sixth Life

In this life, Varic is a personal guard to the Karoshan Queen Shyrax. At some point, genetically altered soldiers, the Perfected, came for her. Varic thought he could defeat them with curse spells, as no one was his equal in magic, but failed. Varic was crushed alive under the magical weight of Alazar, the Perfected Mage.

Seventh (Current) Life

Current life.

Facts from previous lives that haven't been sorted to one live or another:

  • One of Varic's first times in an Iron Hive working as a mage for hire for a Galactic Union mercenary group.
  • Varic failure in containing a Solar Dragon's hatching explosion.
  • Varic growing up on Dornoth IV.

Magic and Abilities

Thanks to the ritual he is a sevenfold archmage and has an unique and more complete image of the Aether. His magic disciplines are

  1. Seals and Binding
  2. Navigational Magic
  3. Water Elementalism
  4. Curse Magic
  5. Lagomorph Contract
  6. Mirror of Silence
  7. Memory Manifestation Magic

Varic can also use basic Aether manipulation at a much higher capacity than other mages. This includes the ability to:

  • Use telekineses to catch bullets and carry people, including himself, around.
  • Break other wizard's spells and turn spells against its casters.

Equipment

Lightcaster IV Plasma Pistol: Plasma Gun that shoots orange plasma bullets. "Lightcasters. They work anywhere."

Wand: Meant for precise targets. Blue.

Shield Amulet: Forms a protective, invisible shield around Varic, effective against all kinds of bullets. The shield is only visible when struck.

Levitation Ring: Allows Varic to move around in space with the use of telekinetic force. It also allows for easier levitation when under gravity, though it is not much faster than running. Varic can also use it in more complex scenarios and to carry heavier weight with it than basic Aether manipulation. It has a limited power supply.

Eurias: Staff with World Spirit of an Ocean World.

Mantle: The mantle is blue, with runes that surround the hem. These runes glow silver softly when activated. It provides protection against everything, from heat, magic, mental attacks, to the vacuum of space. This allows Varic to survive and move around in space. It also regulates heats. When under heavy attack, the mantle begins to unravel.

Processor Implant: Provides access to the Subline, and send messages to others.

Race: Human
