Gaien Arelius is the Patriarch of the Arelius family — Blackflame Empire branch. He is the father of Cassias Arelius. He is somehow related distantly to Eithan Arelius and also somehow related to members of House Arelius, Rosegold continent.
For several years, Eithan stepped into the role of Patriarch, because he was more advanced than Gaien, an older Truegold, while Eithan was an Underlord. (see Advancement Level). However, at the end of book 4, Skysworn, Eithan was demoted and Gaien took up the reins again.
In book 10, Reaper, Gaien is introduced to adopted clan members, Wei Shi Lindon Arelius and Yerin Arelius.
