Akura Pride
Akura Pride is the son of Akura Malice, full sister to Akura Mercy. He participated in the Uncrowned tournament, but lost the second round. He then fought alongside Lindon against the Wandering Titan's sect in Wintersteel.
Character
Appearance
Pride is short, with black hair, pale skin, and the trademark purple eyes of the Akura family. His goldsigns are swirling tattoos descending from his ears and chin which coil down around his body and move while he manipulates madra.
Personality
Pride lives up to his name. Although he is allied with Lindon and the Akura faction, he serves as an antagonist for Lindon, opposing his entry to the Prime Akura team on grounds that Lindon is too weak. He believed that The Sage of The Silver Heart should have chosen a family member. He is often arrogant and aggressive, and prefers force and strength to subtlety. He is full of criticism for Lindon. Despite his flaws, he develops through the series to be more tolerant and more of a friend to Lindon. He cares about his family and his sister, though he doesn't display his affection.
One of Pride's signature characteristics is his loyalty to honor. While he considered Lindon as weak, he opposed him because he felt that Lindon would impact the honor of the Akura family. During the second round of the Uncrowned Tournament, he gave up the crown he had obtained and gave it to Lindon, feeling bound to do so after Lindon saved his life and the life of the rest of the teams by forcing Sophara on to the next round.
Path
While Pride's path has not been named, he follows a path built soley on enforcer techniques. He has bonded to a book, but only 4 of the 7 techniques of his book have been shown. His madra is based on shadow aspects. What he lacks in flexibility, he makes up for in combat strength. His techniques are not showy, but he is a dangerous opponent in a duel, outclassing all of the other young Akura Underlords despite his being much younger than them.
History
The earliest we know of Pride is when Mercy discovers her Underlord revelation and sets her bet with Akura Malice. Pride does not approve of Mercy abandoning responsibility, but with the family genius gone he begins to step up his training. Through great dedication and hard work, he advances to Underlord at a very young age, and thanks to his combat path, out classes all of the other young underlords of his family.
When Lindon first meets Pride, Pride challenges him, calling him unworthy to be on the Prime Akura team for the upcoming tournament. Lindon accepts the duel, and intentionally loses to Pride. Following his example, the other young underlords challenge Lindon until the day of the contest for which underlord will participate in the tournament. When Lindon challenges all of the young Akura underlords, Pride's honor keeps him from joining the mismatched duel. He then squares up to face Lindon, but Charity stops the duel. Instead, Pride duels Akura Grace and wins, securing himself a position on the Akura Prime Team
Leading up to the tournament, Pride and Lindon clash frequently. Lindon doesn't live up to Pride's expectations for an honorable representative of his family, and criticizes him often. During the first round of the tournament, Pride does well for himself considering how limited he his with his path. Charity expects that he will truly shine during the later rounds of the tournament, when combat strength is all that matters.
During the second round of the tournament, Pride ignores the plan that the Akura faction had developed for how to advance through the round, and instead forces Mercy and Lindon to follow him as he seeks out opponents. He handles himself very well in fights, until the Akura faction faces Sophara. During the fight, Pride is about to be cut down by Sophara when Lindon drives an empty palm into her, saving his life at the cost of Lindon's own. After Sophara advances to the next round, Pride continues fighting on the island, eventually securing a crown which he delivers to Lindon. He returns to the fighting but fails to secure another crown, losing the tournament.
