Abyssal Palace is a Dreadgod cult whose members are devoted to the Dreadgod called the Wandering Titan.

Brief

Abyssal Palace is a Dreadgod cult, one of four. This cult follows the Wandering Titan, feeding off its power. This cult is first seen in detail in book 7, Uncrowned. Characters are antagonistic.

Descriptions

  • Cultists wear black and brown robes, earth tones
  • They keep their faces concealed beneath hoods
  • They wear stony masks resembling a snarling monster
  • Eventually, at advanced levels, their skin itself becomes stony.
  • Their eyes glow yellow, like their monster, the Wandering Titan
  • This cult doesn’t have a Sage, but it does have a Herald and several Archlords.

Path

Members of Abyssal Palace model their Path after the Wandering Titan. They use earth madra and are said to be all but indestructible.

The man who had beaten everyone on this floor was there with one eye in his mask glowing, pulling together shards of stone with earth madra into a destructive ball between his palms. He was preparing his technique to finish off Naru Saeya, and he wouldn’t mind if Lindon was caught up in it. Brother Aekin, Uncrowned of Abyssal Palace, launched his Striker technique.(Wintersteel, ch 26)

Cult members

Brother Aekin — He wore a dark stone mask carved to resemble some kind of snarling monster, the right eye of which glowed with a bright yellow light. His robes were black and brown, representing the Wandering Titan’s cult: the Abyssal Palace. (Wintersteel)

Maraan, high priest, old Underlord, wielding his Staff of Condemnation

Maraan, High Priest of Abyssal Palace, was approaching one hundred years old. He had given up all hope of reaching Overlord decades earlier, thanks to a spiritual injury when he was a young man, and had dedicated his life to training future generations. Even so, it was a point of pride that he hadn’t lost a duel against anyone else at his own stage in twenty years. (Wintersteel ch 13)

Uncrowned King Tournament

In the 18th Uncrowned King Tournament on the ground floor of Reigan Shen 's tower, the members of Abyssal Palace wore hoods and stone masks. Their seats were black, and they gathered beneath the image of the Wandering Titan, a turtle-shelled armored warrior. Dreadgod Cults normally don't have a Monarch as a head but Reigan Shen had gathered the four separate cults together under one banner.

Brother Aekin of Abyssal Palace was one of the Top 4 in 18th Uncrowned King Tournament but was defeated by Sopharanatoth for the chance to fight in Finale.

Sky’s Edge

Abyssal Palace arrived at Sky Edge where the Wandering Titan was asleep with the intention to collect power from the soon to be awake Dreadgod for their own gain. Another purpose was to trap Akura Fury because Akura Malice had already agreed to be pinned down to the Nine Cloud City so she couldn't help him.

Fury had posted bounties for Abyssal Palace and rewarded points which could be exchanged for rare items.

Seven points for an acolyte mask

Twenty-five points for a priest

One hundred for a high priest

During confrontations lower tiers Abyssal Palace fighters had been quick to surrender if they were in losing positions because if their opponents tried to fly off with their prisoners, a squad led by an Overlord would lock onto their position. Akura fighters had been forced to kill or abandon their captives before they could be caught themselves.

Abyssal Palace tower was a squat brown cylinder of packed dirt and stone, ringed with scripts that blocked intrusion and hid them from spiritual perception.

-Wintersteel ch 26

After the conclusion of Uncrowned King Tournament, Akura Fury advanced to Monarch and fought the Abyssal Palace Herald along with sacred artists of the other Dreadgod cults and the Herald Xorrus of the gold dragons.

Meanwhile, Brother Aekin was recruited by Redmoon Hall’s Sage of Red Faith in the plot to kill Akura Mercy and Akura Pride at Sky’s Edge. He was killed by Wei Shi Lindon instead.
